Try 30 seconds of blind contour drawing exercise before any sketch. You simply need to draw the contour of a subject without looking at the paper.

Why do I need to practice this technique?
although this exercise will be difficult at first, it will improve your hand-eye coordination, force you to look at the object, and help you become more focused. The best thing is that it could be done anywhere and at anytime.
This is something I recently came across. I have been doing this technique almost daily for three months and I have started feeling and noticing the improvement on my sketches.
Blind Contour in 4 Steps:
Choose a subject to draw.
Set a timer (between 30 seconds to 2 minutes).
Focus your eye on the object and begin moving your pen to sketch what your eyes observe.
As much as you will be tempted, do NOT look at the paper.
Examples of blind contour sketching set at different times.
Hope that was helpful.
Don't forget to name, sign, and date your work.
